ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER - Health, Safety & Environmental
 

A vacancy has arisen within our Health, Safety & Environmental Department for an Environmental Officer.

The Environmental Officer, reporting to the Health, Safety & Environmental Manager, will take a leading role in developing and monitoring environmental management whilst also providing guidance on environmental and sustainability issues.

Responsibilities will include:

· Reviewing company processes/procedures and recommending ongoing environmental improvements and targets

· Maintaining awareness of current environmental legislation and best practice to provide necessary advice, carry out compliance inspections and annual audits, prepare reports and ensure actions are taken to resolve any issues

· Liaison with other local organisations on Environmental and Green Travel issues to develop and promote initiatives within the company and local community

· Collecting and analysing environmental data on all aspects of the company’s operations, then liaising with Olympus on results and ideas for improvements

· Implementing further improvements in the company’s waste management and recycling systems through liaison with departments and relevant contractors

Candidates will have an appropriate degree and/or diploma, a minimum of 2 years’ appropriate experience in a similar role and, ideally, membership of a relevant professional body. In addition, candidates must be enthusiastic, confident and able to plan their work, with good initiative, a practical, logical approach, an eye for detail and good I.T. skills.

Hours of work: 8.30am to 5.00pm – Monday to Friday
