High Definition imaging from Olympus. The CV-260 and CLV-260 when combined with the new flat screen OEV-181H LCD monitor, represent a technological breakthrough in the field of endoscopy.

CV-260 HDTV Video Processor
The Olympus CV-260 is the world’s first high definition (HDTV) video processor for endoscopy.

The CV-260 sets new standards in endoscopic imaging, offering dramatically improved image quality with the introduction of HDTV, and state-of-the-art image enhancement functions to highlight subtle changes in both mucosal structure and colour. The unique features of the new processor include:

HDTV Imaging
High definition television offers twice the image quality of conventional television systems, using 1080 effective scanning lines of picture information, compared with 576 for traditional PAL televisions. HDTV produces a smooth picture with remarkable clarity and detail, making it ideal for demanding imaging applications such an endoscopy.

Even minute blood vessels and subtle mucosal structures are displayed with amazing accuracy throughout the observation area.

The Olympus OEV181H HDTV-compatible flat panel LCD monitor provides the optimal endoscopic images.

Electronic Magnification
Supported by sophisticated enhancement processing, the
CV-260 processor’s integral electronic magnification system allows you to enlarge moving or still images by up to 1.8 times, without compromising image quality.

Adaptive IHb Colour Enhancement
Structural enhancement is very helpful to emphasise changes in mucosal structure, but the redness of tissue is another leading indicator of change. Tissue redness can be defined by measuring the amount of haemoglobin present.

Olympus has been able to identify the colour signature of haemoglobin and, through advanced processing, accurately calculate the index of haemoglobin (IHb) on a pixel-by-pixel basis. This function emphasises subtle chromatic alterations to the mucous membrane.

IHb Colour Chart
Haemoglobin data can also be displayed by using the IHb colour chart function, where IHb values are displayed in cool colours, while high IHb values are displayed in warm colours, highlighting areas of inflammation.

Scope ID Function
All LUCERA scopes are equipped with a memory chip that stores scope-specific information such as model number, serial number, specifications and white balance settings. When the scope is connected to the CV-260, its data is transmitted to the processor, which uses it to automatically configure the white balance and other settings for that instrument.

Backward Compatibility
The CV-260 is compatible with EVIS 200, 230 and 240 series videoscope models in addition to LUCERA 260 instruments. All these scopes can continue to be used, while having the full functionality of the CV-260 video processor.

Additional Features
In addition to the above, the CV-260 incorporates:
Rainbow colour correction - creates smooth moving images without the traditional rainbow effect.

Pre-freeze facility - enables the endoscopist to capture the optimum frozen images for image capture and recording.
Automatic iris control – provides the optimum exposure to avoid glare during endoscopy.

Structure enhancement - highlights subtle surface irregularities and fine vessel patterns to identify pathology.
