Specifically designed for ultrasound-guided TBNA procedures, the BF-UC260F-OL8 is an innovative ultrasonic ’hybrid scope’ with a unique optical system design that exploits both video and fiberoptic technologies. Images are as sharp as those obtained with regular videoscopes yet the insertion tube diameter is only 6.2mm despite the incorporation of an ultrasound array.
The BF-UC260F-OL8 provides clear visualisation of a dedicated echogenic aspiration needle under ultrasound imaging, confirming the position of the needle tip during TBNA procedures. Furthermore, the Power Doppler facility allows the blood flow conditions to be checked before puncturing.
In comparison to conventional TBNA or mediastinoscopy, EBUS-TBNA’s combination of maximum reliability and minimum invasiveness is expected to make it the biopsy method of choice for more accurate diagnosis and staging of lung cancer.
